  1. These are sharp shoes. Got them just in time for my sons training class with Rulon and they now sport his actual signature!

  2. Bought these for my nephew. Fulfilled his expectation. Superb shoes, great fit and great traction. He's having a great season. 32-1 !!! Thanks.

  3. I am a wrestling shoe junkie. This pair is by far one of the best pairs I have ever worn. I like them so much I am reviewing them. The shoes have outstanding durability and traction. Although a little hard to break in at first. They mold to your feet and give the perfect fit, assuming you chose the right size. With the option to put your laces in a Velcro pouch makes, forgetting athletic tape is no big deal. The only big deal is these shoes.

  1. This head gear is adjustable to a certain extent. The strap on the tops covering the head, can go over to your head onto your face if it slides down. Which it causes burns or rub marks which I had very often in my matches. The strap across the chin and feel like it chokes you if you dont adjust it right, without having the chin tight though, the entire headgear will not fit to right.

  2. I had this ear guard for a few months and I have used several other (cheaper) ear guards. I think for wrestling, this ear guard is as good as it gets. It is really light and fits very comfortably. Another reviewer stated that it was a bit tight but I cannot imagine how that is possible because you can adjust all aspects of the guard. You can simply wipe it clean after use and it does not smell.

One thing, however, is that the ear part sticks out of the rest of the gear rather abruptly instead of rising gradually. This has presented me with some issues because it provides a handle that the opponent can hold onto. I discovered this ear guard made it a bit more difficult for me to squeeze out of guilotine or Peruvian necktie variety chocks compared to other ear guards when the opponent clamps down with the elbow. So I am taking one star off.

In short, it has a minor flaw for submission grapplers. Otherwise, I think it is pretty much perfect.

  3. I was looking for a headgear that would stay in place for my BJJ class. Got this one and I am very pleased with it. It stays put as it should, it is pretty comfortable and definitely does its job of protecting your ears. I was starting to get sore ears after rolling (with no headgear) but now that's history.

  4. My son has been using this headgear exclusively for the last 6 years. He sees so many wrestlers with headgear "problems" and has never understood why they don't go with this one. It has never failed him and it fits great! It doesn't slide around. I aksed my son for a quote and he said, "It's the best headgear ever in the history of headgear!"

  5. Item was exactly as described and delivered super fast - just in time for my son's wrestling camp. He loves it.

  1. Based on information and reviews that I've found on the net, I was looking to get my hands on some Brute Shockwave headgear. Unfortunately for whatever reason, the Shockwave has been discontinued. So I was on the search for some headgear.

I ended up trying the Brute Quad III, the Asics Quantum, Cliff Keen Tornado.

    The Brute Quad III:

    Pros
    - Low Profile (lowest profile of the 3)
    - Comfortable
    - No hard plastic on the interior

    Cons
    - Difficulty hearing compared to the others.
    - Velcro strap on the top might feel abrasive to my training partners.

Although I do like these I do usually go with the Asics because of how cushy and comfortable they are.

  1. Unlike some other ear guards, like the old clam shells, that basically just press against your ear to immobilize it; these ear guards have a little pocket for your ear to go into and roam freely. This makes it much more comfortable.

The picture makes it look like they may be a little too thick and interfere with squeezing your head through tight places, but I've found them to be no worse than any other ear guards in that respect.

The straps are nylon with velco which I have found to be just as secure as the plastic kind, but a little more comfy.

All in all a very good product.

  2. My son and daughter loves this headgear...I like all the colors it comes in and you never have a problem with the strap over the eyes. Or we haven't.

I think it's a little big for a 5-6 year old and doesn't really adjust to fit as well as I would like it to (we had a problem with it this past weekend slipping to the side and not being able to make it tight enough)....better for the 7 and up, i would think. It sturdy and very cushioned.

  3. This is the best headgear my son has ever used. Coverage is good, fit is perfect. I would never use any other

  4. good quality product, although the velcro chin strap is starting to wear out already. Very lightweight but stong w/ear protection and not painful or cumbersome to wear. Shipped promptly.

  5. These things are super easy to fit, and once they are fit right they don't slide around at all. They're fairly low profile to the ear, but they are BIG. Full coverage over your ear and then some.

I would buy them again, havent had any ear issues since I started using this and the fit can't be beat.

  1. Ordered these for my grandson for wrestling and they are very classy looking and a nice fit, heloves them.

  2. I'm a woman into knife sparring so I needed some shoes to make sure I didn't roll my ankle during practice. I'm a size 8 1/2, so I ordered a size 7 1/2. The shoes are around 1/2 inch bigger than my feet, but after putting on the shoes, I don't notice that they're slightly bigger. They feel lightweight and think they'll do great in practice.

  1. I understand that these are the same pads that the military uses. After some marathon caving I can understand why. I might not have knees any more if these bad boys weren't there. I also love the rubber caps over hard plastic, stiff fabric, or other alternatives.

  2. These are great to play airsoft in. Works great, feels great. And the price is awesome too. GET IT!

  3. I purchased the Alta Superflex Knee Pads with the non-velcro "Altalok" buckle (featured in the photo).

The packaging states clearly "not intended for athletic applications", but I could see it being used in outdoor sporting activities (the reason for my initial purchase). After adjusting and wearing them, they are quite comfortable. The disclaimer is probably because the cushioning is not as thick as other cushioning found in volleyball or similar knee pads available, but make no mistake: there is comfortable fabric and great padding in these.

The cap is not a super-rigid, plastic material like many skateboarding caps are. They are a sturdy but flexible, hard rubber material with a soft texture to them that provides grip when kneeling down.

The lower strap is made of a tough and durable adjustable Du Pont Cordura (R) strap. The upper strap is made of a flexible elastic strap that gives enough tension to keep the fit around the lower quads/above the knee nice and tight without hindering range of motion when bending at the knee.

The "Altalok" buckle system is simple to use; they slide in and out easily and are designed in such a way to eliminate any accidental loosening of the strap. They pivot on hinge that the buckle hooks around as well, enabling a more comfortable fit.

Overall, I recommend this product to anyone who wants a comfortable, versatile kneepad. Construction workers, paintballers, and airsofters would appreciate the build quality and the comfort of the Alta Superflex Knee Pads.

  1. I got these for use in BJJ just to avoid getting another case of Impetigo which I had one from dirty mats. I got size 11 which is usually perfect for me, but these were pretty tight, but that I guess is by design because they totally support your feet all the way to the ankle. And the grip they give is great, it feels like cheating to be able to grip so easily.

    Recommended.

  2. The best thing going for the shoe is the low cost. They certainly wil function for wrestling shoes but they are cheap and will start to fall apart in one season. The velcrow lace tuck is junk and the stitching is falling apart, but I have used them for 2 seasons coaching. Time to pick up some asics, they have always been durable.

  1. my 14 year old loves the split sole wrestling shoe. Came in as promised. Best price Ive seen this shoe.Would buy again.

  2. BEWARE: Shoes advertised are with a specified WIDTH of "D", BUT the shoes I received were without a "D" on the box label nor on the label of the shoes. My son's foot size for regular street shoes are 11 1/2 wide, not too wide but a "D" width, he usually fits a regular size 12. So, I thought my ordered size 12 "D" would be fine. Most wrestling shoes are sized as regular street shoes, BUT not these. A wide footed Hobbit from the shire couldn't fit into these suppossedly "D" width shopes. Either the web advertisement should not include the "D" widths and simply list the show size number only or state that the shoes are narrow and NOT FOR HOBBITS.

  3. The wrestling shoes are beautiful! My son loves them. Service was quick and excellent. Thank you for a wonderful gift!

  4. Okay this is great shoe it provides great grip which allows you to have great control on the mat. This shoe is also suprisingly light which allows quick and sudden movements. My old shoes were getting worn out so i bought these 5 days before my next tournament and got them 1 day before and ended up coming in first out of a 34 man bracket. I would recommend these shoes to any teammate or any wrestler who wants to be the best they can be.

  5. I bought a pair of these shoes for MMA training. I wear a size 10 street shoe in normal widths. The sizing information for this shoe says it runs true to your street shoe size. I disagree. The shoes were too tight across my foot where the ball is. The length of the shoe seemed okay, my big toe was not impinging on the end of the shoe, however my pinkie toe was crammed in and very uncomfortable. Unfortunately, I will have to return the shoes, which is too bad because, other than the fit, they looked like good shoes and the price was right. I've read some other reviews of this shoe that say it runs a half size too small, or a full size too small. I don't want a big space in front of my big toe just to accomodate the width. If you have wide feet, I would consider a different shoe. Probably ordering half a size larger would be a good idea.
