1. I personally bought this sword for my Tai Chi combat practice since it's an inexpensive sword and one of the few with a properly curved hand guard. It was much better than I expected, the imitation leather is actually very pretty, and the whole thing looks much nicer than I anticipated. Also although it's advertised as a replica for decoration it's held up perfectly in my almost daily practice for a few weeks now.
   I have only had to make two modifications and these are due to the unorthodox use I've chosen to give the sword, so this should not detract at all from those of you who just want to buy it as a replica.
   
   1-The grip is just trash. It's cheap wood bound with a cheap black cord. The cord came apart after a few swings. I sanded the wood a bit and bound it with a thin layer of electrical tape to protect the wood from warping due to my sweat and the humid tropical climate I live in (Puerto Rico). Next I bound it again with one of the better tennis racket wraps giving it a sturdy, comfortable grip.
   
   2- The sword has a false finish which makes it look very dark and honestly very dirty and sticky. Using ultra-fine grade sand paper I wore this down, as well as the slightly sharpened blade (I can't afford to cut my training partners). The result isn't gorgeus, but it is much better in my opinion.
   
   Again I'm using the sword for something it wasn't designed for, but with a little time and effort it still works great.
