1. This product really fit my teaching methods well. It helps my students to be familiar with long weapons, how to use them and defend against them. Because my students are kids from 5yrs - 16yrs. Padded sparring weapons help give them a safe learning experience that is close to real. It helps develop hand - eye coordination and 2nd nature response in the students.

1. This is similar to what I have used back home at my dojo in outlook, but is far less durable than the ones I have used before.
   Being a sparring sword in nature, it should be able to take certain amount of abuse, but this broke in first 20 minutes of hard sparring. Left with one sword I decided to use it for cutting news papers for practice. This lasted me about a week until I decided to cut multiple newspapers at a time hanging from string, and it broke on paper. Gotta say rather unreliable. Both snapped just below tsuba. Seems like the PVC pipe used inside the foam is not very strong.

1. the swords are made of bamboo strips and take quite a while to break down. I use them with hocky armor and modified boxing gloves. apx. 4 ppl (myself include) activly spar with these swords. as they are made out of bamboo, and are not solid, or made of meteal the blows they deal are lessend, yet a a realistic feal, and weight. unlike plastic or foam swords, these will last for apx 1-2 years depending on how offen you spar and how hard you swing them. yes they will break, just not ludicrysly fast. dont swing them against solid object such as trees. :) they dont apear to take any dmg. at first, but after about 10 full blown swings the bambo starts to break. I own 4 of these swords, and highly recomend them. oh and they will give you a good workout. you'll be pooped in about 10-20 mins.

3. I received two of these swords about a month ago and I am quite satisfied. The swords have held up well to my abuse and they feel nice when I use them. I have no experience with kendo so I've just been whacking my friends with them in random fencing matches. Tons of fun! Overall, I'm very happy I bought them.



4. While the shipping is fast from the this distrubuter the product itself is not very good. I've done kendo now for 6 years and I know a high quality shinai from a low one and this unfortunately is a low one. Only buy this if you just like collecting martial arts equipment or intend to use it for non-martial arts use.

5 comments about 1 Natural Wooden Bokken Practice Training Daito Sword.

1. Is a very solid bokken a little bit heavy, but it looks durable, comes with a plastic handguard remobable, well finished. Is made of hard wood, natural wooden color. It came in a huge Amazon package that i think was useless because the boken has a little chink on the tip and it semmed that was caused in the box by the look of the package. I highly recomend this boken!



2. This item arrived at my home on the day of my third Forza Class...very nice. Heavier than the class bokken so a much greater workout. My instructor and the other members of my class who have their own Swords were impressed with the balance and distinctive rich deep brown color. For a generic Practice Daito Sword, (not that I have had much experience), this weapon is most satisfactory. I look forward to getting lots of use from this lovely piece of wood.



3. Definitely on the heavier side of bokken I've owned. It's definitely got heft. Mine came with a wrapped handle, which I promptly removed and then sanded down the handle.
   
   This is a high quality bokken. I recommend it.



4. Honestly, I did not expect much from this bokken despite the positive reviews. I bought this bokken as a spur of the moment kind of thing; I needed one as soon as possible when I first started Iaido, and not knowing where to buy, I turned to Amazon.
   
   The bokken is well balanced and its handle has a better shape than my $30.00 bokken. I was so ecstatic when I started doing some iaido forms with this bokken. It has the perfect handle, fair weight and I didn't do handle maintenance with this bokken as I do with my other one. This is also a fairly sturdy bokken, able to withstand the force when I accidentally hit the kitchen counter while doing suburi (empty swinging) with this.
   
   I recommend this bokken for the first time iaidoka. This bokken will serve you for many months and probably years if taken care of. This is a great bokken for its price.
   
   Please do note that this is not a shinai, so don't try hitting your friends or trees with this thing. It is very likely to break.



5. Well, everyone else seemed to have gotten a different product than what I got. Mine was not red oak, nor white oak, or any oak I could recognize. Its way too light for its size, and came with the silly handle wrap gimmik (which was NOT pictured.) The product pictured was not the product delivered. The entire lenghth of the thing is covered in knots, and although sanded down, leave serious weak spots in the wood. The product I got is not fit for any kind of contact, and is too wide for good suburi. Forza fans will be happy with this boken, however, since they do not have to preform with them. Next time, I will not try to 'save a buck' and go with the lowest bidder. Its my fault for having done so to begin with.
