1. A contemporized version of the fixed point grappling hook, this item sports the "ninja" name, but didn't really need it...
   
   It is a well made steel devise with a matte baked enamle finish that comes with [roughly] 25 feet of rapelling line.
   
   Now, I've had mine for some [egads, I'm feeling terribly old all of a sudden] 20 years, so the design on this devise really isn't new, but it is very trustworthy. Just place the tines so that they form a "+" as you look down over it and screw in the spring loaded post until the tines are solidly locked in place.
   
   Because of the thickness of the rope that comes with the grapple is reletively sizable, it's best to use a cynch knot or a modified hich loop to get it to stay on the looped end of your grappling post. Be forwarned, the smooth surface of the grapple, along with the large calibre rope may look like it's all tied together securely when in fact it's not!
   
   In practice, the devise is reletively big, and flinging it into place on a "fortress wall" would be reletively noisy as it clanked against stone or metal [well, noisy for a shadow warrior- wouldn't you agree?] but as an item for pulling down a barricade, scaling a tree or fording a steam, it does have it's significant purposes- just not nearly as "ninja-esque" as we might like.
   
   I only give it three stars based on it's "Ninja Combat Applications" which, by design just wouldn't be stealthy or quickly effective enough in a sereptitious or fast paced combat environment. But as a good, solid, well built tool for your general [and Zen-like creative] uses, it has great merit!
