1. I have used a Thermarest for nearly 25 years. The Thermarest is a great product, but very thin, and a bit hard on aging shoulders. I thought it was about time to try something new. I searched around and decided to buy the Big Agnes Air Core Sleeping Pad.
   
   Big Agnes has a good reputation, and so far, the Air Core Pad has met expectations. It is definitely more comfortable than the Thermarest. It is much lighter and smaller to pack. The only drawback is, unlike my Thermarest, it is not self-inflating. It takes me about 25 deep breaths to inflate the mattress. This may be a drawback when compared to the Thermarest, but worth it in my opinion for the added comfort.
   
   The Air Core Pad was a great purchase!

1. The mat is fine. I've had no problems with it. However, in hindsight, I probably could have found a mat that is just as good for less money. If this were priced around $50-$60, it might warrant 5 stars, however, it's over-priced.
