  1. I bought this item based on other people's review! I loved it!
I had been using the thinner mat and it was not working for me.
I love it more and enjoy yoga more!
    Highly recommended item!!!

  2. I recently bought this mat to accompany my new work-out video and I am very pleased. It is much longer than I need (I'm only 62 inches tall), but I'm not complaining! Yes, there is a chemically smell, but I don't really mind. It is comfortable and protects my back and bones against my hardwood floors. It rolls up very nicely and lays against the wall of my small condo. What more can I say other than it does its job, and does it well?

  3. I did a lot of research (yes I did) for the right mat, after wearing down a lot of yoga mats. Even considered buying the most expensive brand. This one was a great choice and I am very happy with it. While very reasonable, it is a great color, and is quite sticky. I happen to use my yoga paws for early morning yoga when I am still waking up, but in general, it is the right level of stickiness for intermediate-advance yoga. Also, I do lay it on top of my old mat for extra cushion. I think you could get by without doing that. ENJOY! DO heaps of yoga!

  4. I really liked this mat--loved the thickness and the stickiness--.. but it only lasted for about a year of twice weekly use. Now the ears where my hands and feet hit most often have worn down and have very little traction :(

  5. I find the Tapas ultra mat to be smooshy instead of a firm cushion. I sink right down and can feel the floor. I bought the Tapas ultra mat for more cushion. The quality is not up to par with my original Tapas Yoga basic mat purchased about 8 years ago which seems sturdier. Interesting to see if the Ultra mat lasts as long as my old Tapas mat which is still in good condition. I just wanted more cushion. I will use the Ultra mat but was hoping for more.. I see the Ultra mat is on sale on many websites so may be we will see a better model come out.

  1. I have been using this mat for about 9 months, practicing yoga 2-4 times per week. It is a beautiful mat, and a "sticky"-type mat. It is lighweight and fits in a standard yoga mat bag.

While I like the mat, it did take some getting used to.

For one, it does have a bit of a smell when first removed from the plastic packaging. I can't really describe it, but it was not an unpleasant smell, just kind of...hmmm...not really rubbery smelling, not latex, but some type of synthetic smell. It does go away after a while.

For another, it was extrememly slippery at first. I had to wash it well with water in the tub and dry it in the sun to remove the slippery coating that came on it. It is now not slippery as it was, but once the class heats up, if I am sweating a bit on hands and feet, I definitely slip on it, particularly my hands doing down dog. This slipperiness is pretty standard on these sticky-type mats, so this is not a particular defect of the mat itself, just the nature of this type of material.

If you practice any kind of hot yoga, this would probably not be a good choice for you, unless you use one of those skidless blankets with it.

If you do hatha yoga and don't sweat a whole lot, then I really recommend the mat for its wonderful softness and beautiful look.

  2. I really like this yoga mat. It is very thick and lays flat on the ground without rolling up at the ends like some mats do. I have long legs and this mat gives me plenty of room to stretch out.

  3. Yes, it did come out of the box smelling a little funny...sort of a new car/shoe smell. It quickly faded though, so it wasn't a problem. Besides, it's basically a giant sheet of rubbery plastic, so I was expecting it to smell a bit chemical-ish at first, lol.
This mat is so thick, and so gorgeous! It provides the perfect amount of cushion, and keeps me from sliding around.
If you practice Hatha yoga, your toes will thank you!
(If you're more into Bikram, check out the nonslip towels.)

  4. I was a little hesitant to purchase this mat because of the bad smell reviews; I am sensitive to smells. However, mine smelled fine right out of the box. It is a lovely blue/white color, exactly as pictured, which is soothing during practice. I haven't found that sweating on it makes it too slippery. It's very thick and comfy.

  5. This mat arrived promptly, and while it had a smell, what do you want for a giant sheet of plastic? My chief complaint was the color is not what is pictured - mine was almost solid green. I wanted a yoga mat that was different than everyone elses!!!! It was also very short - I had assumed (perhaps wrongly) that 68" was the standard size my yoga studio stocked (I am 5'9" and this was about 5 inches too short to full stretch out for cobra). However, that being said, the 1/4" was nice and cushy, and very sticky (I did try it out at home before returning for about 5 minutes). I returned, and re-ordered an 80" burgundy ultra hugger mugger tapas in the 1/4" thick. Great brand, I was just looking for longer, and a different color than the average joe.

  1. I like the mat, seems very durable and of good quality; though it's a little pricey (that's why 4 stars instead of 5). I purchased this mat intending to use it on my hardwood floor to help dampen noise from the trainer|bike, but ended up placing the trainer in a room with a rug. I still use the mat in order to catch any oil or crud that may drip from my bike, but have found that the trainer doesn't stay flat on the rug -- it tends to slip a little bit and bunch up around the places where it contacts the trainer. This is not an issue while riding, but is a cosmetic thing. The trainer seems to be pushing and stretching the mat into the rug.

  1. This is a wonderful nap mat for my 2 year old! It is super thick and comfortable - so much so that often when we pick him up from "parents day out", one of the other kids is sleeping on it!

  2. Perfect for preschool, k-4 and k-5. My son sleeps on it every at school.

  1. My friend just started taking yoga classes and did not have a bag for her mat. I purchased this item because the company makes great products and the color complimented her mat. I was delighted with it when it arrived. My only regret was not purchasing one for myself. Needless to say, she loves it too and gets many compliments from others.

  2. The bag was lovely, nicely constructed, beautiful color, however it did not fit my thick yoga mat. It would only hold a thin one.

  3. a little tight squeeze to get the mat in...don't see how you can carry additional things like cell phone, water, etc like the description says but good sturdy bag.

  4. I have a slightly thicker mat and this bag was too small. The mat wouldn't fit at all, so I returned it and purchased a Bean yoga mat bag instead (also available on Amazon), which I love.

  5. this bag does a great job, now if only it wasn't such a chore to get the mat in the bag. Not the bags fault, just can't be bothered sometimes. The bag is well made and durable and if you're not me, the mat will work out quite nicely in this bag.

  1. The product is high quality, exceeded my expectations, looks even more pretty than on the screen!

  2. mat is great; it's pretty and also very functional. The extra-thick aspect makes it very comfortable. The only problem is for that it might be too short for a taller person, but it's long enough for me.

  3. Love this mat! Nice size, great color and graphics. Smelled kind of strong when first opened, but that soon went away.

  4. First mat that I have purchased. Purchased this one because I could not justify $80 for my first mat. Upon opening, the odor was strong and unpleasant, size and feel was nice. I had heard that this mat could feel a little slippery at first. I am planning a good thorough scrubbing before use.

  5. I love this mat. It didn't have the smell some reviewers mentioned when I took it out of its packaging. I definitely have the most unique mat in my yoga classes. What's best is when you need to focus on a single point, it's very helpful that you mat has various points that you can focus on.

I did, however, take a permanent marker and mark a line straight down the middle of the mat to help me find a center line when I'm in warrior or side angle/triangle poses, which isn't a problem with this particular mat per se, as I would have done this on any mat.

The only downside is that it's a bit pricey for a yoga mat.

  1. This was one of the best personal well-being investments I've ever made. I try to use it every night just before bed, and it really does help me sleep like a baby. Have had chronic neck and shoulder/trapezius stiffness and tightness for years, which have pretty much subsided ever since I started using this nifty little device.

Love that it comes fully assembled, you just take it out of the box and unfold it...ta da! Nice solid build quality---I guess the manufacturer/distributor didn't want anyone to sue them, lol.

Am recommending this for all my friends and family. Unless you're 5 or 10 years old, doing a normal headstand, even with a wall supporting you, is much much harder. I was able to progress from 30 seconds at a time to 5 minutes at a time within a week (use a cooking countdown timer), and hope to work up to the maximum recommended inversion time of 12 minutes within the end of the month.

btw, you can get this same bench for twenty five bucks plus ten bucks ground shipping at gadgetuniverse dot com.

  2. I love this product. I have always been afraid to try too many inversions but this product allows me to have the benefit of the inverted poses and still feel very safe.
I am also a Yoga teacher and my students are benefiting from this as well. My Yoga room is mostly mirrored so we don't have much wall space to practice inversions. With this, we don't need it.

  3. I don't write many reviews but I am making an exception for this item. I am in my early 50's and I like to challenge myself while staying safe. I bought this unit a little over a year ago and am still using it. This stand is relatively small, sturdy and well padded. I was amazed how the headstand, a yoga pose that was relatively difficult and challenging, for me, was made so much easier with this prop. For me, the need for a mirror was crucial in the beginning to verify true verticality and not my perception of it. It takes me about three minutes to set it up and the same to fold and put away. The padding is great for holding the pose in comfort. I bought my stand for $50 with free shipping from this website and thought it was a good deal until I read Eduardo Nietzsche's review indicating an even cheaper one. More importantly, instead of adding my review right away, I decided to try the headstand before going to bed. Although, I have no trouble falling or staying asleep, I benefited from this suggestion and am grateful for it. Perhaps the muscles tensing to hold the pose is enough to induce consequent relaxation leading to an even faster and deeper sleep. In conclusion, it you are going to make this stand part of your regular exercise program, it is a good item and I hope that you will enjoy it!

  1. This is a great sticky mat. I had first purchased a thinner mat and found that my knees would get sore because there just wasn't as much cushion as I would like. I didn't want to use a blanket or towel, as I was concerned about slipping out of a pose. This was an excellent solution! The color is great too. I stack the mats as well or roll up the end for certain poses and they seem to stay pretty fairly where I place them.
