  1. These mats are easy to use, and durable enough, but I find them to be too slippery. Not enough friction. They are also a little too thin to provide much comfort on a concrete subfloor.

  2. Great product. Amazon's packing for shipping reeks of OVERKILL. The box was twice as long and deep enough to pack four mats. Be more economical with packaging.

  3. very nice flooring for the price. easy to put together. I use it as weight room flooring in an exercise area I have set up in my garage. If you are looking for aerobic room flooring, I would recommend buying the 20mm version.

  4. Its pretty good flooring, but it can't take much abuse. I was doing some bench pressing with dumbbells that were only 50lbs. After only one drop from 10-12 inches off the ground theres 4 pretty nasty dents. I'd say in a month or so they'll be kinda torn up.

I gave it a 3 out of 5 because if you don't plan on dropping weights on it then they'll probably last a while and serve their purpose.

  5. The quality of this flooring is far too poor to hold up to "weight room" activities and does not include any smooth edge pieces. I sent it back and had a horrible time getting money refunded.

  1. I love the texture of this mat, especially if doing hot yoga or ashtanga. My only concern is that after 6 mos. the foot and hand spots have completely disintegrated. I leave a mess and I'm sad that it won't last, especially at this price.

  2. This mat is excellent in theory- PVC free and environmentally stable. Sadly, however, that is about all it provides. Bulky set aside, the mat is slippery. My wrists have been soar due to the way I have to hold myself in downward dog seeing as there is little to no traction, and my hands slowly slide up the mat. As I slip, the mat scrunches and shifts in position instead of laying still on the floor. I am very unhappy with this mat, and would highly discourage purchashing it. I feel that I am slowly developing a wrist injury due to using this mat, which is unfortunate, seeing as I have a daily practice and had planned to use this mat for the next year to year and a half.

  3. this product is great! Was sent so fast, I really appreciate and I am very satsfied. Thanx!

  1. I LOVE THIS MAT!!! IT IS PVC rubber and worth every penny. I may buy another. There is NO RUBBER SMELL - which is very important for people with sensitivities to that. I'll have mine for years...feels thick and tough like a tire tread...has a nice grainy texture on top/smooth on the bottem. Won't go wrong ordering one - or two!

  2. I really wanted a thicker mat, but have been unable to find one. Even the "commercial" mats I've come across on sites specializing in exercise equipment have topped out around 3/8". You can get thicker if you buy the rubber tiles, but I wanted a mat.

That said, the near commercial grade stepper I have on it fits nicely, it did not have any peculiar smells, and it seems that it will last as long as I'm careful.

Now I need a 96" long mat for my Bowflex....

  1. I love this mat. It's a perfect travel mat for me. I also have the thicker and heavier Manduka Black mat. This mat is alot easier to carry! I like the color too. My only suggestion for Manduka is to make a mat that is between 71" and 85". 71" is not quite as long as I like, but 85" is another 14". Why not something between 76"-80"?

  2. The perfect yoga mat. It's just the right length and I don't slip. It's a little heavy, but well worth carrying it.

  3. I got this mat because I was too cheap to buy the thicker black mat. I haven't tried the black mat, but it might provide more "bite." This mat works well, though. It is certainly far better than other mats I've used.

The key feature of this model is its length. Taller than 6', I was wearing out the corner patches in my previous mat. 85" gives me a lot of room to move around. In fact, even if you're not tall, the longer mat gives you the advantage of not having to reposition yourself as you transition between poses. Moving around a bit on the mat also minimizes wear and tear on this already durable mat.

I'm not sure why people talk about the mat's weight as a potential problem. It's a frickin' excercise mat. Stop griping about the effort to haul a yoga mat around.

What the weight means is that this mat is dense, because it is the same thickness as other brands' regular mats. This density gives this mat a superior, firm feel.

The jute/fabric layer in this mat is not in the center, unlike competing mats. It is near the top, instead, contributing to the firm feel and eliminating stretching of the mat during poses. Although covered by a plastic layer, it is this fabric layer that defines the texture of the top of the map. The plastic material used and the fabric's texture give this mat good grip. (Even if you don't think you need to, be sure to wash the mat when you first get it to clean off the manufacturing residue. Otherwise, you'll find the mat slightly slippery in tough poses.)

The way people talk about Manduka mats, I thought the purchase of this one would revolutionize my worldview. It didn't. But, it's a great mat. I wouldn't mess around with mats from any other vendor after owning this one.

  1. Large stone is expensive, but given the size, well worth the $.
Cuts worn plane and chisel blades nicely.
Good prep for the fine / medium stone.

  2. Not much to say about a sharpening stone except that this is one of those tools that you don't want to scrimp on. The DMT is well made and makes short work of chisels and plane blades, if I ever had to buy another stone, this would be it. Don't forget the fine/extra fine stone, they complement each other. The stand is also great to give your knuckles some clearance; it's just a plastic jobby, or you could just as easily make your own.

  3. I have used the coarse 6" (blue) stone and all grits of the folding smaller stones(red/green, and blue/black), and they are quick cutting, do not require any oil, and have kept my knives sharp for years. I prefer the 10", but the price is steep.
However, there is no substitute for putting a good edge on garden tools and high carbon steels of all kinds (including D2 steel). They also make a credit card sized "stone", with which you can sharpen a blade anywhere (with a little care because of the size).

It takes a bit of use and breaking-in, which is a brief process, before the stone is at its best.
