1. As a student of the cane, I've been using these two volumes as my core study material, slowly getting deeper and deeper into the material and trying it out on battered partners as time allows. The set represents quite a lot of material to learn, practice, and become good at. I have augmented/experimented with/examined other resources but so far I prefer the ICHF material for our school's purposes. For other resources the Canemasters material is good and Alain Burrese's Cane DVD is awesome.
   
   Volume one covers a lot of one handed striking as well as some two handed striking. In the video, GM P uses a simple aluminum cane and recommends this type for its speed and lightness. Sometimes I use an aluminum one and it makes for very quick strikes (and I generaly assume that 90% of what I'll do with the cane will be a strike). Adapting this to the heavier wooden Canemaster canes (which I prefer) takes a lot of time, mainly in building up the hand,wrist, arm and core strength to use them quickly. Luckily the Canemaster material provides for lots of drills.
   
   Volume one then gets into defenses vs punchs, free and cane hand grabs, shaft grabs, chokes, kick defenses, and bear hug defenses. Overall a nice variety of material ranging from strikes to leverage technqiues to locks. Overall the first tape covers "the bulk of the basics" and I would recommend it to anyone interested in the cane.
   
   Volume two picks up on punch defenses, grab defenses, and choke defenses and then adds a nice section on knife defenses. This material ties in nicely to the first volume and I recommend becoming fully confident and competant with the first volume before exploring the second.
   
   Overall, this is one of my favorite ICHF video sets and I think it represents a solid introduction to the cane, which could be further explored though other means afterwards. Excellent set and highly recommended.



2. If you are looking for many advanced Cane techniques this could be a reasonable purchase. If you are looking for beginning moves...yes there are plenty of them. Navigating through them must be done with fast forward. No chapters to choose from. The moves are repeated several times and acted out smoothly and clearly. Personally I found much more valuable and practical training in the Cold Steel DVD.

1. not worth the price, i found on another web for 14.00 i paid 29.00 plu 12.00 shiping.



2. I purchased this item for a christmas present for my brother. I received this item in a timely manner which was great, but for the quality of the item it was way over priced. The item had many nicks and scratches all over. The plaque was ripped off the top also. It was pretty easy to reattach but the scratches did not please me. Being that it is this close to Christmas I will not have time to send the item back and receive a replacement in time. Would I order this again? For the price no but the wood is very sturdy and ultimately worth purchasing. Just wish the price was lower to make it more appealing.



3. When i got it I noticed parts were chipped off. Theres no instructions. Its decent but not for the price.

1. This is a very nice quality product. It was alot cheaper than other similiar gear but when it arrived it was much nicer than I would expect. Can't comment on its use for spar'ing as my dad wears it to protect his head in case he falls as he is handicapped. But it deos seem to be very solid and thick and most likely would protect quite well during a spar'ing match.



2. This gear is good for martial arts, it does his purpose and its very good price.

1. This product seems to be of good quality [though I'm not an expert at all when it comes to knowing wood bokkens]. Shipping took a while, and only received one item when I ordered 2. I messaged them about this problem and they were very willing to fix it with no questions asked, sending me a second much faster than I received the first. I give them credit on being able to work to resolve any issues and providing a quality product.



2. If you need a legitimate weapon, don't waste your money.
   
   I ordered three of these because I have new students who would not require a first rate bokken to get started. I thought I would gamble on these for the price.
   
   I would not accept these if they were given to me. I don't think I could trade them for a box of bent nails.
   
   They are Taiwan made. 2 out of the 3 are so warped as to be useless. They are nearly rough hewn with a coat of gloss varnish.
   
   Shipping nearly equaled the cost of this kindling wood. PLEASE do not waste your money on these.



3. Have used this for Kum Do practice for two and a half years with no problem.



4. I definitely give credits for fast delivery. Weight is definitely heavy. The sword itself is long just right. If you watched Last Samurai, it is very similar to the ones they used in the practice fighting.
   
   I ordered two. One is a little (just little) lighter than another. That another one is whiter than another one (naturally, it's the real heavy wood). Both looks like hands made as they're not exactly the same. Great! The wood lines on both are very natural and sexy with little green color. The smell of wood is really nice. The curve of the sword is just like in the picture. And what's best is there is no single little piece of wood sticking out to hurt your hands. :)
   
   Although it made from China, but the quality is still great. Heavy, long, and looks just right.

5. I really like my White Oak Bokken. It seems to be heavier and a little thicker than my brother's other wooden Bokken. I don't test its strength for sword fighting oftenl, but it seems to hold up well. I also like the looks of the white oak compared to the black paint of other swords. I am definitly happy with my choice.

1. Many may not recognize nor ever have heard of Hadhafang and for good reason, Hadhafang was only featured twice in New Line Cinema's Lord of the Rings Trilogy and in both instances for only a fragment of time. However in both segments that it was on screen it was wielded by two renowned and beloved LOTR characters; Elrond and his daughter Arwen. It was also wielded by Idril (Mother of Earendil and Grandmother of Elrond) against the evil Throng ages before.
   
   The inscription on the blade reads:
   
   Aen estar Hadhafang i chathol hen, thand arod dan i thang an i arwen
   ("This blade is called Hadhafang, a noble defense against the enemy throng for a noble maiden")
   
   Now regarding the product itself:
   
   
   Pros
   
   From the tip of the blade to pummel the weapon is well crafted. The stainless steel cleans easy, the wooden handle or hilt is smooth and finely crafted, and the blade itself is very sharp which for some may count as a con but for me only makes the replica more genuine.
   
   Cons
   
   There is really only one con and that is that Hadhafang is not a well balanced sword. Now I know this is typical for most replicas and it is because of that I did not make it 4 1/2 stars.
   
   Overall a very satisfying purchase, I am pleased to be proud owner of Hadhafang. :)



2. It is a great sword in fact my first and only Lotr sword but i will get more in the future. The handle is made with a fine smooth wood and the blade is made with stainless steel. The blade has elven script inscribed on the blade that reads "this blade is called Hadhafang, a noble defense against the enemy throng for a noble lady. The only thing is that the sword dosent balance well but over all i was glad to add it to my Lotr collection!

1. I would porbably rate this order a five, exce0t that i did not recieve all four swords in this order. The large new sword did not come with the order. When we ordered the set, it was mentioned that the order would probably come in multiple deliverys, and this is what we thought was happening. We recieved three of the four swords, and are wondering when we will recieve the fourth one.

4. My first order was said to be lost & did not come in. I had to call constantly checking & changing traking numbers. The order came in late & was shipped by ups. they leave packages on the doorstep without giving anyone time to get to the door, that is, even if you are home. In which case anyone can take it. The swords themselves look okay & everything but they are not sharp at all! nowhere on the page does it mention this. i have bought the swords as a present & who really wants to give dull swords to their boyfriend for christmas! if i would have known that i would not have ordered the product to begin with!

Got this in Good time, i didnt write this right away i wanted to acually see how the product stood up. well, the black paint is chipping off in 2 weeks,, the sword is held in by two ballbarings that slide out easly and boing good luck finding them..The Base where the sword lays into the handle is Plastic... dont hit anything with it or it is going to break. I had to Glue the plastic part inside the handle and very carefully at the same time push both ball bearings into the slide. tricky but i got it..i hope i dont have to hit anyone with it, it will break the first swing LOL...Ok i have to repaint the shaft, i might change it to red. anyways, shipping 5 stars, Cane two stars. makes 3 maybe 3 and ahalf

Not sure what is with the comment about this being plastic, it's definitely not...I actually don't see one plastic piece on it :S I was surprised at the weight of this thing and overall quality when considering the price hah. I bought this as a novelty item/joke and it is actually much nicer than I expected. If you are looking for a cobra headed cane sword, this is it lol. I dig havin' this thing sitting around my house looking all badass like. One thing though, when I first got it I couldn't get the blade out...had to twist it out and then put some WD-40 inside the sheath thing to make it really easy to pull out, but not fall out.
