  1. The trigger handle shape is nice, and the adjustable rope length is also a plus. But the PVC rope really hurts your toes if you like to jump barefoot. Also if you store it curled up, the bends in the rope never really straighten while jumping unless you are going 200 rpm. Tried the newfangled version, now I will go back to my ratty old soft rope. BTW, a 9' length is fine for me, and I am six feet tall. Even with adjustable 10' ropes I only had it at about 9' 2", and you can add the extra 1" on each side by holding the handles further back.

  2. Have had a number of these ropes. Work well and hold up well. Still using one that's six months old. But, difficult to adjust size...cut down from 10 feet to 9.5. Should have easier way to do this....otherwise a good item

  3. I bought this jump rope because I wanted one that was long enough, I am 6'2 and thought this would be good. I like the quality of the jump rope but it was way too long for me. It said in the details that you could shorten it, but I haven't found a way to do that yet. I was a little disappointed.

  4. This rope only lasted through a few weeks of fairly light (30 min/day) use before snapping at the handle and almost breaking a window in my apartment.

  5. Although a little stiff especially initially, it works fine and will do the job we need ok.

5 comments about Harbinger 9' Speed Jump Rope.
  1. I saw this at the Vitamin Shoppe and since I'm always willing to try new jump ropes, I picked it up. I like these type of speed ropes, the ones with ball bearing and a rubber encasing over the rope. I find that it spins smoothly and fast and its easier to do tricks that a lightweight speed rope (although not as easy as the beaded ropes for trick but overall, I like the speed rope better). This rope is adequate if you just want to skip, do some crossovers and some double unders etc. But the rubber is too stiff thus it doesn't unkink all that well and turning action isn't that great even though it has bearings. I've also bought an Altus speed rope similar to this which was marginally better. Believe it or not, the Sports Authority brand of "professional" speed rope is far superior than either. The rubber is much softer and it turns a lot faster and smoother. Still, this is a servicable rope, I'm sure you can get a very good workout and if that's all you want, then I recommend it.

  2. the is simply the best jump rope i have ever had.
when i exercize, i like it when it goes very fast, the rope is kinda "heavy" so that makes it possible for me to go very fast while i cant do that with most of the ropes i have used in the past

  3. I used this rope for over two weeks hoping that the fact that it keeps twisting up on itself was just because it was new and needed to be broken in. After two weeks I gave up. It kept twisting up on itself and I would have to stop in the middle of jumping to unwind it. A few jumps later it would be all twisty again. I ended up buying a better quality jumprope that works beautifully.

  4. Works like a charge. I'm 6'4". Works perfectly for extended jumping sessions. Gorgeous movement. If your looking for a serious jump rope, look no further - this on'e perfect.

  5. Overall, it is quite satisfactory with several tries.
However, it is a bit heavier than I expected.

  1. I'd been looking for a good, durable jump rope so my daughters could have more things to play outdoors when I came across these. They used to have these in my elementary gym classes and I loved them. They're sturdy, colorful and when you swing them they keep a better shape. I've already bought several of them. I would recommend also getting a book on jump rope rhymes. We have Anna Banana. They get exercise, fresh air, and wholesome fun. Who could ask for more?

  2. For our event, these jump ropes were perfect and did not fall apart. My family and I tested these ropes for 1 week to make sure they could handle the 800+ students who would be using them. These jump ropes are good quality and worth the money. I would buy them again.

  3. I bought these just ropes due to reviews after searching for good sturdy jump ropes. Since I got these about 1 month ago they are still in good shape. My sons have used them everyday since I got them and they are still using them and have not fallen apart. I recommended them to you if you are looking for good jump ropes.

  4. My child likes this jump rope because it makes a popping sound when it hits the ground. The jump rope is durable and we have not lost any beads due to breaking which I was originally concerned about. It is a strong rope that has many years left in it. The weight is also great and makes it easier to swing it.

  1. This is the best jump rope I have used. I am a x fighter so I have done a lot of rope skipping. Easy to adjust and works great.

  2. I've read reviews and forum comments that say something to the effect of, "It's just a rope. It's not worth that much money." Well, it's not just a rope and it is worth the extra dollars. I'll tell you why.

This rope is perfect for beginners because it makes jumping rope easier and safer. And it really motivates you. I have an Everlast rope and simply can't use it. It's too short for me. Moreover, the rope doesn't feel right. But with the Buddy Lee Rope Master Jump rope I am actually learning to jump rope and enjoy it. I can make the rope just the right length for me. And I can adjust it so the swivel is comfortable. It makes jumping fun and easy.

It is designed with an advanced swivel bearing system for high intensity jump rope training and makes jumping easy, effortless and fun. The 9" long handles are designed for both children and adults for easy execution of basic and advanced jumping skills for the serious adult or youth athlete/fitness buff. I especially like the feel of the light weight handles. They're long and easy to control. The rope swivels easily so you don't have to move your arms and hands much.

I do the P.A.C.E and 4-3-2-1 fitness workouts and find the jump rope perfect for the cardio portion. I'll tell you something else, there not a better workout than rope jumping --- at any age or any fitness level. When you do cardio, you need to get your heart rate up and really start breathing hard. Otherwise, you're not making your heart and lungs stronger. Nothing does that better and faster than jumping rope. And this rope is just about the best investment in your health you can make.

    Highly recommended.

  1. I got my rope within a 4 days! I started using it and I get a great cardio workout. I've been using this in my backyard on the patio and it holds up well. I'm 6'2" so the length is perfect. However, if you are any taller I would look to getting a longer rope.

  2. If you are a beginner, buy this rope. It's not too common to find beaded jump ropes at gym so if you are going to buy one jump rope, buy this one.

I would consider myself as an intermediate jump roper. I've been working out on jump rope for about 7 or 8 months and I've become pretty good over that time. Before using this beaded jump rope I used a speed rope most of the time.

I've used this jump rope for a few weeks now and I haven't had any problems. For me, beaded jump ropes are a lot easier to get into a rhythm with. The handles are comfortable. Much of the time I jump rope bear foot. My Harbinger speed rope can really hurt my feet and it's difficult to get into a rhythm with. That might be because I didn't shorten it enough.

I'm 6'0" even and this jump rope feels like it was made for me. If you are over 6'0" you may want to consider another rope. If I was 6'2" it is probably too short for you.

Not a single bead has fallen off yet, but that doesn't mean they won't eventually. They feel like they are on there pretty good.

Like I said, I've only been working out with it for 3 weeks. I use it on a wood floor. I carry it with me to the gym in my backpack and I don't have to worry about it getting tangled up. I have to leave my speed rope at the gym because it gets tangled up and annoying every time I carry it anywhere.

  3. I got my jump rope in a VERY timely fashion. Price and service was great!

  4. I've had it for few weeks now, use it about twice a week, outside on my paved patio and it's holding up just fine. The weight seems to be good, especially since I use it outside. It's fine for inside work as well. You can easily adjust the length by removing beets from one side. The speed appears good to me, even though I'm a novice when it comes to jump rope workout, so I can't tell how it really compares to others. I think if it holds up by me banging it against the pavement for few months at least, then I'll have no problem ordering another one in the future.

  5. Too bad this nylon rope wears out and tears apart at the handle after a solid week of half hour work sessions. the beads fly out all over once broken and I collected them up and sent for replacement. i liked the weighted feel, and it was VERY comfortable to jump and run-rope with. So I even tried a replacement rope of the same brand and it broke again in just a week. I requested and got a refund for the 2nd rope failure.
DO NOT BUY THIS ROPE-it's fun and enjoyable to use UNTIL it breaks. The failure of the nylon rope makes this a waste of money. TOO BAD!!!

  1. Just got addicted to jumping rope recently and wanted a rope to give a little extra umphh to my workout. This rope definitely does the trick. To all that complained about the rope getting tangled, you need to really use some power to get the rope going. Once you get it going it is nice and smooth. I wouldnt buy this rope if your trying to speed jump or do tricks because the weight of it causes some issues. I am not great at crossing the rope or doing double unders but I've used lighter ropes and its much easier with lighter ropes. If you are looking to tone your arms (especially forearms) this is the rope. Adjusting the length is kind of a pain. If you need to adjust the length you have to open the handles. The rope is held by a sturdy piece of metal. There is a less sturdy piece of metal that hangs loose in the handle. To adjust the length you get the length you want and then cut off the excess length, then you take the less sturdy loose piece of metal and using pliers you crimp it into the rope and then put the handle back on. The only complaint I have on this rope is that less sturdy piece of metal really needs to be crimped tightly or the rope flies out of the handle. I actually had to call Valeo customer service and request a bunch of those pieces of metal used to crimp the rope at adjusted lengths. Otherwise this rope gives you a great cardio burn and you'd be surprised at how the extra weight does make a difference. I am 6 feet tall and had to take maybe 2-3 inches off each side.

  2. I bought this jump rope from Dunham Sports and afer just a few weeks of use it broke in half from normal use.

  3. Jump rope cord is coiled up in the package and the cord will stay kinked for the life of the rope. I was hanging mine up and it would kink at the point it was hung from. So for the several weeks that I had the rope it was never straight. I ended the life of the jumprope when it dropped out of my hand onto the floor and the cap that holds the cord to the handle snapped in half. What a piece of junk. I had jump ropes growing up that were better quality than this thing. Look elsewhere.

  4. I bought this for an additional fitness tool. Love how easy it was to adjust!

  5. I use this about 3 times a week, and boy do I get a good workout. I would recommend it to anyone.

  1. Good jump rope... Wish i had gotten a heavier one and the leather rope is light so it requires more arm speed to get it going, i have tried other weighted ropes and i have to say I've liked others better but this one works

  2. This is very fast and very good rope! Very good quality!
To make it last forever put a piece of tape on the very middle part, that hits floor with every jump. And you will never find a rope that rounds as fast and clear as this one does!
Good for fitness and for fun.

  3. This is not the jump rope you see pictured. I have bought Everlast jump ropes in the past.. the last one being in 2001. I finally needed to replace it. I ordered this listed rope from Amazon. It's not as it appears. The old Everlast jump rope has substantial leather...the one you get is a string. The old Everlast handles should weigh 1 pound..these weigh 1/2 pound. I have never been so mad at Amazon for picturing just what I wanted and getting something so far off. Mine is being returned, and I will try to repair the old one.

  4. I've had this jump rope for a few weeks now. I jump rope every day in tennis shoes on carpet, with good results. I've accidentally dropped it a few times (which is why I jump on carpet) and the handles have stood up fine to the small abuses. The heft is very nice, and I am thrilled that the 8-feet was perfect for me. I'm 5'0'' and I was definitely expecting a need to adjust it with knots or something. No such need after all, which is a relief. As with most leather jump ropes, this one does spin a lot slower than its plastic/rubber counterparts, but I was expecting that (just a note for anyone expecting speed I guess) and I'm completely happy with the slightly slower speed. A good jump rope if you're not speed-jumping, and it should last as long as you treat it with a little respect.

  5. i have no problem with this jump rope, it does not tangle, and it seems rather durable.

  1. This is a great jump rope at a great price; the kids love the 2 colors, they love the beaded look, and they love the handles.

My kids are 6, 7 (8 in 2 days) and 12. They can all easily use this size jump rope; it's weighted well enough that they can even speed jump on some pretty windy days. I can even use this size jump rope (at 5'2").

Buy several at once to save on the shipping cost, if you can! I ordered 2 and am going to order 2 more, and I wish I would have known what size to get the kids originally and I would have just ordered them all at once. I made the mistake of also ordering the 6' foot rope, thinking my 6 yr old would be better off, but he can barely use the 6' foot and can use this 8 ft with lightning speed!

  2. I had read a previous review that said that this length worked well for both her and her younger son. Thank goodness I read that review because I would have ordered a rope that was too long. I am 5'2" and this 8 foot rope is perfect. I really like how the long plastic beads keep the rope in a perfect arc.

  3. I'm petite, I'm too lazy to go to the gym (ironic right?), and I don't want a drawn-out workout. I heard that 10 mins skipping rope is equal to half an hour of jogging on the road, so this little jumprope was perfect for me. It doesn't make a huge footprint in the house, and I can work out without any equipment setup.

  4. The weight of the beads keep the rope spinning, rather than floating like "toy" jump ropes, so it tangles less for beginners. Seems plenty durable. My son loves it.

  5. It may be good for kids.. But still, It depends what to compare it to.
I purchased it for exercising as fun fitness option - I liked jumping when I was younger.
And it is very slow! Very very slow! You will get bored with this rope rather fast and through it in a farthest corner of your room. It will be another thing that you bought, used once and now just keeping.
It does not allow much of tricks.
I had to buy another one. Actually the 'Everlast Leather Weighted Jump Rope', also from Amazon. And it is way better!

The good thing I can tell about this jumping rope is that you can take off some chains and make it shorter - so it is adjustable for height. I've got 8' rope and still had to take 1 or 2 chains off. I am 5 feet and 3 inches tall. So finally, the size was good for me.

to smooth out from shipping, and the jump
rope needs to come with better instructions
on how to adjust the swivel for better
performance, other than these 2 things,

Really gives you a charge.

The rope is made for ultra speed (5-6 turns per second) and power jump rope training. The Aero Speed has 6'' handles made of T-Grade Aluminum for superior quality, durability and look. This is the rope to buy if you really want to jump fast and are into HIT. If you're just starting out or an average jumper, I suggest you use Buddy Lee's Master Rope first. Having said that, you won't be unhappy with this rope no matter what fitness level you're at or what you want to accomplish.

It was voted "the smoothest, fastest, and best-balanced rope, period" by Men's Health and was also featured in Men's Fitness and Men's Muscle. No matter what fitness level you are at, it will make you feel like a pro and make you want to jump! It is a Hyperformance Rope" designed for the serious adult or youth athlete/ fitness buff.

  3. Over priced.
    Very good bearing. 5stars
Cheap rope, too light for high speed. 2stars
    Very fast shipping. 5stars
Not the quality i expected to get from a $40 jump rope.

  4. I tried a few ropes that were cheaper and not adjustable but I ended up throwing them away because they were not long enough. This one is expensive but I find the quality unsurpassed by any other manufacturer and I finally have a great rope that is long enough. If you aren't 6'5" you can probably find plenty of other ropes that are cheaper and adjustable but you can't go wrong with this one if the cost isn't too big of an issue.

  5. To the people that complained about the rope being too thin, they obviously don't understand that these are speed ropes, meant to be thin and aerodynamic.

I've used over 10 types of jump ropes, and most (almost all) were of poor quality. I would have the ropes break at the handles, the handles wear (cheap plastic) when dropped, and once they were worn down, I had to get a new one. Which sucked at $8-$15 a piece..

I've been jump roping for around 3 years (between 3-5 times per week), and jump rope for 45 minutes to 1 hour per session, and at rather high speeds. I am confident after all these years to say now that I'm pretty damn good and know what I'm talking about. When using previous jump ropes, they just could not handle the amount of abuse I put them through, and after approximately 2 weeks of use, most would break at the handles (bearing was of poor quality and did not provide a complete range of motion). So I performed some searches and came across these ropes. What attracted me to them? Solid aluminum handle: DURABLE, after 3 years they are still as good as new. Bearing system: Replaceable, complete range of motion, spin these bad boys in which direction you want and they will not tangle, guaranteed. Ropes: Replaceable, thin, durable.

The ropes will typically last me between 6 months to a year before they break. One has to understand that this is amazing when looking at the abuse I put the ropes through: hitting the floor 2-4 times per second on average for 30-60 minutes per session, with 3-5 sessions per week, at 26-52 weeks). The bearings last for approximately a year before they have to be replaced.

Now do the math: 40 dollars for first set, and if you're starting out, probably 1 rope + 1 set of bearings within the first two years = approximately 50 dollars. I don't think the benefits that you get when you start jump roping can ever be outweighed by the cost of these ropes. They are quality products. Stop wasting your time on the cheap stuff at some sports chain store and give these a try. That is if you're looking for speed ropes, if not, look elsewhere.

  1. This may have been mentioned already, but there is an easier way to adjust this rope if you can't push the rope end through the uncapped handle.

In this case, pull the rope tight against the bearing side, then cut it flush with the bearings. This will leave about 1" of rope inside the handle along with the washer and metal crimp. Insert a long, narrow tool such as a screwdriver into the bearing side and force the 1" rope, washer, and crimp past the narrow part of the handle and through the uncapped end.

You will notice that the crimp has an inner part gripping the rope and an outer part that mates with the washer. Once you have made your adjustments, installed the washer and crimped the rope in place, make a slight crimp in the outer part so that it can be pulled through the narrow part of the handle as intended.

Tools required: pliers, long narrow tool e.g. screwdriver, and scissors

  2. The rope appears to be sturdy and quality-made. However, it's impossible to adjust the length. First of all, the directions say to unscrew the rope handle from the black plastic cap. The cap does not screw off; it pops off. I wouldn't complain about the incorrect directions as it is easy enough to figure out, but the rope cannot be pushed down through the handle to the opening. At one point in the handle, the tunnel through which the rope must pass becomes too narrow to fit the rope and metal crimp. There is no way to reach the end of the rope to shorten the length. If able to adjust the length, I would give this rope 5 stars.

  3. ya ok its a nice rope for the price of 8 dollars. Adjusting it is not a problem, but if you are really into jump rope training i recommend the aero speed jump rope by buddy lee. it may cost $40 but it is all worth it, easy to adjust, delivers a great workout and you will never need another rope. just check it out for yourself. Aero Speed Hyperformance Jump Rope

  4. I've only had it a couple weeks, but it does the job. Beware though, the one that I received was not easily adjustable if it ever was to be adjustable. It is easy to pop the caps off the ends, but the crimp on the end would not fit through the narrow area of the handle and it never came with extra crimps like I think someone reviewed. To make it adjustable, I had to lightly step on the handle and pull the rope through the rope end. Now that the crimp was free of the rope, I was able to let it fall out. You may be able to reuse it, but I just tied the rope into a knot at the length that I wanted and so far no problems. I only did it to one side as it doesn't seem necessary to do it to both.

  5. this is great i got up streach my self before go to shower 20 round man that thing pump u up.. i really like it..it is good.
